Our Pricing Policy
Thread Express is not a discount store. Our prices are based on the manufacturers' and distributors' Suggested Retail Prices. However, since we do work hard to keep our stock levels high and we offer one of the finest selections of threads anywhere in the world, we hope you will come back to Thread Express again and again!
Thread Express Shipping Policies
PLEASE NOTE that there have been some changes in our Shipping Policies. Read Carefully!
Orders Over $100.00 in the United States: No Shipping/handling!
Shipping Method in the United States: Orders are sent via Priority or First Class Mail.
Shipping Charge in the United States: Any size order - one shipping charge of $5.90. Backorders are shipped free, via First Class Mail. If you wish your order to be shipped via First Class Mail, the minimum cost is $1.50 handling PLUS actual postage.
Shipping Charge Anywhere else on Earth: Most thread orders - one shipping charge of $13 for Global Priority Mail. For heavier orders (large thread orders, books, etc.) the shipping charges will be adjusted to cover the additional weight.
Credit Card Orders If the name on the credit card is different from the name the order is to be shipped to, an invoice will be enclosed with the order and a copy will be mailed to the cardholder. This is strictly for the security of the cardholder. Similarly, if an order is shipped to an address other than the cardholder's, an invoice will be sent to the cardholder separately. Order Filling We try our best to fill orders within 2-3 days of receipt. However, from time to time this is impossible. Please keep in mind that orders received after 3:00 PM Fridays may not be mailed until the following Monday or Tuesday, especially if there are special details such as insurance, overseas shipping, or other reasons they must receive extra shipping attention. We do not fill orders on Sundays or holidays.
Insurance: Unless you request insurance in the Special Instructions section of the order, shipments are not insured. If an uninsured package is lost in the mail, it will be have to be replaced at your expense. If the item is insured, it will be replaced at the expense of Thread Express. Insurance charges are

-- $2.50 for total shipment value up to $100.00
-- $3.50 for shipments valued at over $100.00

Late Additions to Your Order
Forget something on your order? If the order has not yet been processed, we are happy to make any additions to your order. However, if the order HAS been processed, your additions will be sent as a separate order, with separate shipping charges and will be processed separately on your credit card. If you have any questions about additions, just send an e-mail to us at colleen@threadexpress.com.
Returns
If you have to return any item, please include a note with the reason for the return, your name, address and phone number. Returns must be sent back to us within two weeks of the date on the invoice. We have the right to refuse to accept returns that are not in their original excellent condition. These items will be sent back to you. Refunds will be made by check. Postage is not refunded unless the goods arrived damaged AND you requested on your order in writing that the shipment be insured.
Samples
We will be happy to send you a small free sample of any thread we carry. Just drop us a note with your request. Please include a S.A.S.E. Please allow us to select the color.
Backorders
At this time we will not place an item on backorder. If we are out of stock at the time that we pick your order, we will ship the items that are available and notify you of any items that are out of stock.
Special Requests
If you are looking for something we don’t carry, ask and we will try to find it for you. If we are unable to order it, we will try to help you find another place to purchase the item.
Some threads come in larger quantity skeins and can be special ordered if you need a large amount of one dye lot.
Special orders of certain items, because of cost, volume or other reasons, may have to be prepaid with no refund. You would be notified of this ahead of time.
About Dye Lots
Although we most definitely stand behind our products, in some cases there are factors over which we have no control. For example, some manufacturers' dying processes are not as exacting as others. Sometimes two skeins of the same color denomination (name or code number) look very different. This is because they are from different dye lots. Other manufacturers, Eterna Silk, for one, produce exactly the same color from dye lot to dye lot. (Actually, as an artist I welcome these variations and enjoy highlighting them in my work.)
In some cases we are able, at your specific request, to obtain multiple skeins from the same dye lot. This is not always possible, but we will do our best. Keep in mind this may add a little time to fill your order.
We want you, our customers, to be satisfied, even delighted, with the threads you purchase from us. If you are going to need more than one skein of the same color dye lot for a project, please tell us in the "Special Instructions" part of your order and we will do our best to comply. You can also make this request by e-mail. If you do not make this request, or if you order two skeins one at a time in different orders, we cannot be responsible for being absolutely certain you are getting the exact same color skeins. We know you understand! If you have any question about this, just send us an e-mail.
We know how long it takes to complete these projects. (We also know how hard it is to get the time to actually sit down and do our stitching, or quilting or fly tying or whatever!) We want you to have exactly what you need!
Conversions
If you want to work a design in a different type of thread than it calls for, we will be happy to help you convert from one type of thread to another. For example, if a chart lists DMC Embroidery Floss colors and you wish to do the piece in Eterna Stranded Silk, we can perform the conversion for you. Send us an e-mail showing the colors you wish to change FROM and tell us which type thread you wish to change TO. Keep in mind that not all threads can be matched EXACTLY. (If you are not happy with any converted color, please return the thread unopened for a refund.) There is no charge, of course, for this service when it is a thread order. We regret that we are unable to perform conversions except for orders. Finally, conversion orders may take longer to fill than regular orders, depending on the number of threads to be converted.
